Other Media
Detective Horror has become quite popular, and it is likely due to the prevalence of “investigators” as the protagonists in a lot of Lovecraftian media. However, there are other pieces to consider.
Agatha Christie & Archaeology
Agatha Christie and archaeology have a fair amount of history and connections between them, mainly due to her own experience. Her husband worked on an expedition in Egypt, as did a close family friend. Her train ride there is largely responsible for Murder on the Orient Express, and Death on the Nile was likely inspired while she was there.
This is another TTRPG (tabletop roleplaying game) that was heavily inspired by Agatha Christie and things like Murder She Wrote. In it, players take on the role of an elderly busybody who seeks to both solve murders and finds themselves wrapped up in a Lovecraftian cult.
